(no subject)

My powers of concentration are lagging. or lacking. or temporarily gone from my brain. There are *so many things to do* but nothing concretely due before Saturday, except a five minute quiz on who knows what in French tomarrow, so it's difficult to study.
At The Norwegian-American Historical Association(NAHA) today, I found out that people have already done various things that I was going to do for my comps. Since I'm committed to the subject, must find a different angle. Since I'm searching for an angle on one paper right now and the subject matter and angle of another, that makes three papers I must develop angles on. Hopefully, this will be less overwhelming later.
On the other hand, the people at NAHA were extremely helpful. They were also amazed that a Carleton student was using their services. The high pitches in their voices when they said "Carleton" made me suspect they'd never seen a Carleton student in the NAHA. I didn't have to pay the $25 student fee and I have permission to come in in the morning: the reason for their restricted hours to the public is to avoid being swamped by geneological researchers. They are free to "scholars". And I count as a "scholar".
I'm exhausted by this term already. Thankfully, I have people aroud me like Derek, who today revealed a hidden talent: the ability to sing the toast song.
I have a headache. Shall go make meself tea.
