(no subject)
Jul. 25th, 2003 03:49 pmI've had two productive and fruitful but nonetheless unstressful days at my various places of work. Yesterday, I was the only person in the museum for a few hours and did quite a lot of research about an exhibit that I'm essentially reworking with minimal supervision from my boss. I started the day with practically no knowledge of who people in various portraits were, when they were pained, who donated them, etc and ended the day with some information on more than half of them. Today, after sorting more articles in the morning and having a research meeting where it seemed I kept saying things that were somewhat inanne- I'm supposed to brainstorm about something I know practically nothing about for someone who has spent the last ten years learning related subjects--, I located several things Lance wanted me to find and found an article that actually addressed gender during the Little Rock crisis.
Meanwhile, the reading of Veblen biographies continues, interupted by the fifth Harry Potter when I can get my hands on the copy I'm sharing with Daniel. I know I should go in to talk to Eric Hilleman, Carleton's Veblen expert, but I don't want to do that until I have a better idea of where this comps might go... I got a fifty minute break for lunch and so spent some of it browsing the Carleton bookstore and now I also want to read Martha Nussbaum on emotions as a standard ethical judgement. The library has it, but I shouldn't take on more heavy reading in addition to the economic theory in on of the V. biographies.
I was planning on working out right now, but I have cramps. I'm waiting for the tylenol to take effect. I'd just go for a walk but it's so frickin humid outside. I haven't really processed that it's the weekend.
