I saw Matt, Kelly, and Ashley, not to mention Ashley's sister Erin and Erin's dog, Little Bit, this weekend. They brought up the possibility of my going to the Con in Fargo next weekend. I'm strongly considering it, partly just to tease my father about having gone to Fargo. I'll probably go if my cough eases up. Luckily, I don't have to commit just yet because there's room in the cars and registration at the door. I'm reading a Terry Brooks novel because he's going to be there, but so far I'm unimpressed.

So I think my co-worker, a recent Stanford graduate, may have quit today. As I got up to leave at 12, as my boss got out of a conversation with my co-worker, my boss asked if "I was quiting too." I replied, surprised, that it was 12 and I work from 8-12 and that I was going home. Mark then made a big deal of my coming back tomorrow at 8. Mark is certainly very forgetful, but that was just a very strange encounter. I hadn't said goodbye for the day because I was waiting until I put on my coat.

I should explain that Anna's(the co-worker) and my jobs consisted of reorganizing and creating a work-flow process for the company after Mark reclaimed his company. He started it four years ago, left it in the care of other people, came back after four years, fired most of the employees (although it's possible that some quit with the change in management), and is effectively restarting it. As all of these employees left, what my father would refer to as "institutional knowledge" was lost-- Mark usually has no idea where the items he wants are. Compounding the problem, he is emphatically uninterested in organizing things-- his office is a mess. So he hired us. He also tends to change what he wants as he talks without alerting the listener. I think he may have concluded that he wanted very intelligent workers because of it, which is not to say that he's concious of this, but that most people listening to him can't figure out the direction in which he's headed from what he says.
