Mar. 15th, 2005 10:16 pmAt training today, a co-worker verbalized one of the main things I love about my job and my workplace environment. As best I can describe it now in my tired state, what she said was that the people at Youth Venture give you the materials and the support and then let you run with it creatively. There's much more freedom and more responsibility then most of us would get in an entry-level position. Youth Venture exists to provide resources to young people and thereby empower them, and that is echoed in its insitutional culture. In short, I'm getting spoiled for my next job.
In other news, given that I am regularly on metro trains that stop under the Pentagon, and given that I was on a metro train that stopped under the Pentagon less than two hours ago, I truely dislike it when aol news--which I wouldn't read otherwise, but it comes up when I turn on IM-- has a headline like "Anthrax threat at Pentagon" and then when I click it open, the headline is "No anthrax found at Pentagon." AOL news is evil... rather like the corporation that spawned it. The problem is that it's easier to click on aol headlines than go to nytimes.com or even cnn.com.
