Apr. 19th, 2005 11:43 pmI've been pretty tired from all the stuff I've had to do. Today, when I got home at 6 pm, I got into bed fully clothed and didn't wake up until 11 pm. Since getting back up again, I've been sitting at the computer, eating cornflakes and raisins and pistachios and tea. It's rather pleasant. Sometimes I miss living alone. It's sometimes hard to get the "introvert time" I need to relax and energize. The old tenant, who mostly stayed in his room, is gone and replaced by a new tenant who is a social butterfly and knows no one in the area. On Monday, I gave a presentation on Myers-Briggs type indicators at work and suddenly everyone at work is really interested in it, so I've been thinking in those terms a lot these past two days.
This weekend will be a social weekend because I'll be attending two Passover seders and spending most of Sunday with my cousins. It's weird: I haven't seen my Cousin Jenny in seven years and suddenly I'm seeing her twice in two weeks. All of my Aunt Betsy's children lost two grandparents in the space of about ten days. Because they'd gone out to San Diego for grandpa, they couldn't take the time off, and didn't feel justified in going down to Florida to their father's mother's funeral. My mother is coming in next week for my birthday and spending the weekend. Should be interesting.
I've been reading Incredibly Loud and Extremely Close by Jonathan Safran Foer. It's quite amazing. Unlike any other author I know, Jonathan Safran Foer has a talent for evoking miracles between his words. I highly encourage you to read it, but before you decide to read it, you should know that the primary narrator of it is a hyperintelligent, precocious nine-year old. If you can tolerate the sort of narrator described as "precocious," you'll probably enjoy the book; if you can't, you'll probably be annoyed.
