May. 1st, 2005 12:36 amYesterday morning I forgot my keys. Of course, I only realized this after a late arrival in the area where I live, a visit to three separate stores and a long walk home from there. After exhausting all other options, I hopped the fence into the backyard, semi-dislocating my hip joint in the process. Later, I hopped back over, waited a long time for a bus, spent a long time walking around downtown Alexandria trying to find a comfortable place to bide my time until my landlord got home from his baseball game. I ended up sleeping at a co-worker's house. I was very stiff this morning from all the walking, and from the weight of the books and store goods I was carrying in my purse through all of that.
I've been contemplating moving for a while, but this was the straw that broke the camel's back in deciding that I need to move. I'm just so very far away from everyone that I know, and the bus system in this area is crappy. Moreover, if I'm further in, I will have the possibility of regularly scheduled non-work activities, including non-walking exercise. Two people at my work are moving at the end of May, so I should probably wait until June to be better able to utilize the services and cars of people at work in helping me move.
I actually just talked to
effani about her move, and didn't even bring up the fact that I'm contemplating moving. I'm still getting used to it.
In other news, I recommend Wonder Boys by Michael Chabon. When I was reading it, I wasn't able to put it down, and now that I'm not reading it, I miss it. His prose is wonderful.
I will be baptizing my new board games with
halfsparkle and
zenpenguin tomorrow. Yay! People at work think I'm some sort of board games fiend because I have occasionally talked about board games and having some sort of board games event.
