Halloween costume ideas, anyone?
Oct. 20th, 2005 08:34 pmAnyone have any ideas for a Halloween costume for me? The last Halloween costume I had that I really liked was Moosey Moose, but I'm guessing that the sorts of Halloween costumes that go over well in the world of various parties I'm like to be attending tend more towards innovative political statements or else sexy/revealing rather than little kid cute. And I'm not going with sexy/revealing because (1) not how I usually want to present myself to the world and (2) being on Washington public transit in sexy/revealing clothing strikes me as a bad idea. It was one thing for Rocky Horror on the Carleton campus among people who knew me; another in the outside world. Anyone got any innovative world-of-politics puns that could be made into a costume?
In recollection, I liked being Moosey Moose. Yay for costumes with paper mache antlers and matching moose stuffed animals.
In other news, nothing major, but it was a frustrating day at work. My officemate has been very frustrated with many things within the organization all week. She's very vocal about her frustrations and she's reaching a limit. Added to that, there's a VISTA in the office who has proved a very disruptive force within the office and even when we present to partners. She makes work difficult for her officemates, is overly confrontational, complains a lot without having the brainpower to figure out solutions to those problems, etc. At least two thirds of the office feel pretty strongly her boss should fire her (not quite "fire" because she's a VISTA, but the equivelent). Why her boss continues to keep her on is a mystery. At the end of the day, a few of us had a little rap session and talked about Myers-Briggs and leadership issues within the organization and what VISTAs go through over the course of their year. The rap session made it slightly better. Ah, well, my VISTA year runs out pretty soon anyway. I have to start search for a job pretty soon. Yuck.
