Internal celebration of sorts. I've been working on my typing and today I've occasionally managed to get my typing speed up to 30 or 32 WPM. It's hard overcoming my dyslexic brain. I need to raise it another 25 before I can apply for a job temping so that I can start becoming familiar with Raiser's Edge (major software used by non-profits to keep track of their donors), but I think I now more or less automatically know where all the keys are, so it's just a matter of continuing to practice.

In other news, congradulations to [livejournal.com profile] jissa for completing her comps talk!

Bush budgeted to eliminate AmeriCorps NCCC, which is one of AmeriCorps's three branches. Now, NCCC (modeled on the National Conservation Corps) is a residential volunteer program for young people ages 18-24 with five campuses throughout the US. It sends out squads of volunteers to do various forms of community service, usually hard labor or tutoring, in various areas that need help. One of their particular reasons for being is disaster relief. As of last I'd heard, most of the NCCC has been deployed down to the Gulf Coast region to do Katrina Relief. However, the figures Bush cites to justify the cut are from 2004, when NCCCers spent only 7% of their time on disaster relief. Bush is such an irresponsible idiot.
