Jul. 5th, 2006 12:47 pmWays in which my life in Minnesota differs from my life in DC: in DC, the crowd of people I hung out with and met at social occasions, with the notable exception of
halfsparkle and
zenpenguin, were almost entirely single womenfolks who would discuss boys together (one exception for a girl who had a boyfriend in Philadelphia, another exception for a girl who was dating a woman 20 years older) and whenever a boyfolk who one or the other of them was involved with or interested in came nearby, the boy could expect to be thoroughly interrogated. In Minnesota, except when hanging out with some of Andy's single male friends, an awful lot of my socializing seems to occur with monogamous, heterosexual, and largely married couples. It makes the whole texture of socializing very different.
In other news, I am going to New York this weekend for my Great-Aunt Sarah's 95th birthday. I'll see my Grandmother, and Dad, and Linda, and of course my inimitable aunt Sarah. I'd imagine it shall be excellent.
