So because I didn't want to be sneaking around behind my landlord's back, I told him that I was going to start looking for other housing. (His immediate response was that that made a lot of sense for me-- his girlfriend uses the public transit in this area and it causes her a lot of inconvience.) He's decided that I should be out by June--it's slightly under notice (30 days), but I don't want to cause problems for him when he's been so obliging to me this whole time.
I went to see a place yesterday. It was so absurdly convienent I kept waiting to see what the catch would be. It's in one of the tall apartment buildings that surround the Pentagon City Mall, home to the Pentagon City metro stop, which is only four stops away from where I work. That means it's *eight minutes* walking from the apartment to the metro stop. I don't even need to bother with a bus! The roommates seem great: they are older than I am, but book people, and we warmed to each other on the visit. The rent is cheaper than it would be otherwise because the roommates have been there for so long. At the end of the visit, they said they really liked me and that they would meet with the next person who responded to their craigslist ad only out of responsibility. I hear back tomorrow.
In other news, a new VISTA just moved into my office and she's sharing my phone line. This means things are getting pretty cramped at work.
