Sherbet!

In despair at ice cream and sorbet prices, and yearning for either lemon sorbet or ice cream, I ended up getting a mini-tub of lemon sherbet and another mini-tub of rasberry at the grocery store today. 2 for $3! Now, usually, the sherbets that I've had, the only shebert that I've had, the rainbow sherbet that my grandmother buys, is slightly too icy and distinctly artificially flavored. It lacks the natural flavor of sorbet and isn't redeemed by the dairy-ness of ice-cream. But the sherbet I just got at the grocery store (Hunter Farms, if you were curious) is the perfect combination of sorbet and ice cream. Just enough dairy to be sinful and enough fruit flavor to compete with a medium-level sorbet. Plus, I recommend the lemon and the rasberry together.

along the same lines, if you're ever tempted to splurge, breyers all natural fruit swirl popcicles (or the 1-flavor bars are good, too). oh, man, they're great. practically sorbet, and fruit combinations i might not have thought of (like strawberry/orange). and, as it's the all natural fruit bars, it tastes like fruit and not freezer burn!
