Feb. 3rd, 2005 10:12 pmHmm. So, the last entry I wrote was erased when livejournal ceased to function while I was writing said update. In said update, I catalogued my general exhaustion, and the fact that I was so tired at the end of Tuesday's orientation that I burst into tears when I could finally leave that godforsaken, artificially-lit, bright yellow conference room at 5:30pm, having been there since 9 that morning. However, this update finds me doing much better. I received my stuff yesterday, and got to sleep on my own bed with my own blankets and pillows and stuffed animals last night. Comfort! Happiness! And this evening I got to participate in a selection panel: a conference call when young people with thought-out business plans present to a panel which then decides whether or not to choose said young people as venturers. It was fantastic and inspirational to get to interact with the people that we're helping. One was a young woman in South Dakota trying to get funding for a basketball court in her hometown of 150 people which just lost their one gym. Another, even more inspirational, was a teenage cancer survivor trying to establish a national support organization for teenage cancer survivors, which would bridging the gap between support organizations for children who've had cancer and support organizations for adults.
