On Friday, I saw
my_sihaya, my former Johns Hopkins Pre-College camp roommate, for the first time in six years. It was very good to see her. Then I spent most of this weekend doing Necessary Things, and not quite catching up with all of the Necessary Things, and not getting around so much to the huge number of letters I have to write that have been sitting around undone for so long that it is nearly in the category of Necessary Things. Seeing the Harry Potter movie was of course in the Necessary Things category. However, so was Buying Groceries, and Doing Laundry, and Getting a Haircut in Preparation for My Upcoming Trip Home, and Cooking Food for Lunch this week, and Paying Bills, and Returning Videos to the Library, and Working on my Resume and Cover Letters. I haven't accomplished so much of the last three items. In the good news category, I've found a position that would use the skills I've acquired at Youth Venture at an organization for which I would just love to work. Here's hoping that works out. Yet, I think that my job search this time around will be much better than my seven month search immediately after graduating. I'm in Washington DC, which has many, many more opportunities of the sort I'm interested in than Minneapolis; the economy is better; and I've got job experience and a wonderful reference in my boss.
