I went to Northfield yesterday. Stayed overnight with Brynn, Zil et al. and then came back to the cities with them. It was exactly what I needed: two days break with my routine and the opportunity to catch up with friends. Sanity. I had lunch with Derek and played a game of Settlers with Josh and met fellow social science dork Jon (Brynn, Zil et al.'s roommate), and sympathized with my fellow unemployed graduates. It's reassuring to spend time with other people in a similar position. Or rather, brief post-graduation pothole from which we will all eventually dig ourselves out.
Can I make a brief shout-out to Derek? He's a good person and a source of cheer.
Brynn, Zil, Stephen, Rachael and I did finally make it to United Noodles. One of my purchases was a cheap jar of sweet n'sour Indian chutney that turned out to be wonderful.

And then I was curious about Miles Vorkosigan, and of course I had to pick up another book in the series, and.... I think you can predict the rest. The series is addictive. At this point, I've read every book in the series except for Borders of Infinity and Falling Free, which aren't kept at the libraries near me, and those holes will probably be rectified soon.
