I hate waiting for potential employers to call or email me back. I hate it with a hating hate. That hates. A lot. It would make my life so much more simple if I knew that I'd been rejected or that they hadn't decided yet or... something. anything. Alas, potential employers do not generally conduct the process for the convenience of the applicants.

That's why you tell them during the interview process that, if they don't call you back, you'll murder them in their sleep. Then smile sweetly and mutter something about the clowns teaching you all you needed to know. Stuff like that gets them every time.

Clearly I need to learn witchcraft. Then I could call on the powers of nature to send subliminal messages ("pick her! no, really, why even bother reading any of the other applications when she's clearly so much more qualified?") and if they did not accept me or get back to me I could create tap dancing elephants to keep them awake at night.
