It turns out there is something that soothes getting a rejection letter: Already having a job offer! It's with the start-up company. I'm not certain about the details just yet, so I'm guardedly cautious at the same time as I mentally do the dance of gainful employment. Angel fans will be glad to know that the dance of gainful employment incorporates elements from the dance of joy and the dance of honor in Plrz Glrb, as well as a ceremonial showering of coins, as in belly dancing. I'm talking to my potential boss tomorrow.
But, to the meat of this entry: I was in Northfield the past few days and it was wonderful. Good people, good times. Not to mention silliness, chaos, punning, laughter, giggling, and wonderful people. Elizabeth gave me a ride there Thursday evening and I got a ride back from Matt and Kelly that deposited me at home at 3 this morning. I only got five hours of sleep, but that's probably a good thing, so I can be on a normal schedule. While in Northfield, I had the privleges of bonding with Small, Elizabeth's cat, at 5 in the morning; of partipating in a surprise birthday party for Ashley and Matt Ruen; of watching the presidential debate with a Carleton crowd; of experiencing fall in Northfield with the crisp air and the fall leaves and the general beauty; of spending time being silly with Ashley; of seeing August; of getting to know Kathleen a bit more; of drinking *waaay* too much root beer at the Star Wars drinking game and following a sugar high with 100 proof peppermint schnapps; of cooking (making a lemon merigue pie) for people other than myself; and of generally being in a friendly, happy, collegial environment.
