Update

So. I have 20 hrs/wk of employment as a telefundraiser. Training is tonight and tomorrow. It should be less stressful than my previous job.

The physical connection between my modem and the cable that connects it to the high speed internet port is degrading so that I have to take it out and unplug it and restart the compter about eight times a day. I think I have bad internet karma: I haven't had internet access for four different reasons in the past two months. Did I spend time abusing some equivelent to internet ports in a past life? or an alternate dimension? I anticipate spending more time on hold with the Time Warner Cable guys today.

I've rented some good movies recently. I recommend The Station Agent for its low-key approach to film-making and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for its almost opposite approach: it's a high density, disorienting, idea-packed movie. I've also been rereading "Babel Tower" by A.S. Byatt, which is getting to be a comfort book for me. It is a fantastic book that encourages the reader's mind to soar.. I see new things in it every time I reread it.

Which end do you have to plug and unplug? does it seem like the problem is the cable or the ethernet card which is messed up? If its the cable, I've got several extras, and I'll be living in MN by next monday.

I'm plugging and unplugging the cable that connects the modem to the high speed internet, unplugging it at the modem. I think by internet port I may have said something that I didn't mean (the place on the compyter where it connects, as opposed to the place on the wall).

You have charter right? They are notorious for having problems where you "lose your ip address"

You might want to call them, but I suspect you'll get used to unplugging and plugging...
