So I talked to one of the women at the Pentagon City apartment again and it turns out that I'm one of the housemates' first choice and the other's second. I'll hear back on Tuesday. It feels kind of cruel to have had that wonderful situation within my grasp and then find out that there's only a fifty-fifty chance. I should hear back from them on Tuesday.
In consequence I've been fiendlishly checking craigslist and looking at other options for finding housing situations. I want to know what day I'm moving so that I can arrange to rent a van or arrange something with a moving company. The end of May is a really busy moving time because a lot of colleges and schools get out just then. Most of the stuff I own does fit inside a car, so I can rent a ZipCar (cars owned by the Metro system, available by the hour for rent) or ask friends or co-workers with cars. It's just that I have one, possibly two, one pieces of furniture that would not: my futon frame and a seven and a half foot tall (narrow) bookcase.
Rant of the day: roommates.com. It's evil. It lets you post your profile, but then in order to read the emails that people send you, it requires money. It could have said so upfront! Ugh!
